It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that the African Agribusiness Incubators Network (AAIN) announces the passing of Dr. Chris Muyunda, an esteemed member of the AAIN Advisory Panel representing Southern Africa, a distinguished champion of business incubation, and a visionary leader whose contribution to Africa’s innovation ecosystem has left an enduring legacy.
Dr. Muyunda devoted his life to advancing entrepreneurship, innovation, agribusiness development and enterprise growth across the African continent. Within AAIN, he was more than an advisor; he was a trusted strategist, mentor, thought leader and one of the pioneers who helped shape the organization’s continental direction.
As a member of the Technical Working Committee, Dr. Muyunda played a key role in developing AAIN’s first 10-year Strategic Plan in Sousse, Tunisia, where he helped lay the foundation for AAIN’s long-term vision. His belief in sustainable institutional growth was reflected in one of his memorable messages to AAIN CEO, Prof. Alex Ariho, following the African Agribusiness Incubation `Confrence and Expo 2025. (10th Conference) held in Tunisia:
“We should have a session in Tunis about potential new sources of long-term funding for business incubation and pursue them vigorously.”
Those words captured his relentless commitment to building resilient institutions capable of transforming lives across Africa.
Dr. Muyunda was also a founding member of the African Business Club initiated by AAIN and served on the Board of AgBIT, continually championing collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment in African entrepreneurship.
Today, Africa has lost one of its finest advocates for business incubation, but his ideas, leadership and passion will continue to inspire generations of innovators, incubators and entrepreneurs.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Advisory Panel, Technical Working Committee, Management and Staff of AAIN, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the people of Zambia during this difficult time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
